On May 31, the SCI-led Port Angeles’ waterfront plan received another award, this time from the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
The distinction was given as part of the AIA’s annual Civic Design Awards program, which recognizes publicly funded projects that demonstrate excellence on the part the client as well as the design team. A total of 43 projects were entered, of which 13 were given recognition. The waterfront project received one of two ”citation” awards in the unbuilt project category, and was the only public space project among all winners. The certificate was received by Port Angeles Mayor Cherie Kidd during ceremonies held at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle.
Additional information about the event and the entire list of recipients is available on the Daily Journal of Commerce website.
